Team Teagan,

WE HAVE POOP!!! That was the message I received a few minutes ago from Holly, although this may not be as exciting to many (or most) of you, it is a huge accomplishment for Teagan. Since her surgery on Friday, her bowels have been locked up, causing her tremendous discomfort. Shortly after she awoke this morning, she stood in the crib and grunted for what seemed like an hour. This also means that the surgeons will now consider removing her chest tube… She’s looking much better, considering! She gets very tired, but won’t sleep, very restless. But she is making progress…

They moved us to a different “Parent Room” last night – we actually have a window now and we’re a bit further away from the freezer… Holly ventured outside the Hospital walls yesterday to go for a short walk with our friend Stacey, probably felt kind of like Martha Steward going for walks during her incarceration.

Teagans doctor has decided that we will be skipping her next bone-marrow test, and will wait until the 28th, to give her a chance to recover and get her strength back up. Her blood counts are slightly up which is encouraging for now. Her personality is back, except we think she now has a version of “Dramatic Stress Disorder”, because now whenever anyone with a Stethoscope enters the room she covers her eyes and pretends not to see them. Hoping if she can’t see them they can’t see her… Not working very well.

The doctors are still concerned about her heart block, her heart still has not corrected itself. The talk in the “huddle” is about the possibility of a pace-maker to correct the issue, which we hope will not happen. They told us yesterday that one of the Chemo drugs may have contributed to the problem, and has been shown to cause this problem on “RARE” occasions… we seem to be able to hit all those RARE, and LOW % numbers. We’re still hoping we can hit the lottery too… guess I’ll keep trying. Maybe someday we’ll hit a GOOD low percentage thing…

The boys miss both Holly and Teagan terribly. Plus, since I have not been there to sleep in my bed, they seem to have taken over our bedroom… When I walked in this morning at 6:30 to do my “splash-n-dash” before I go to work, I found these two mysterious lumps under my covers… Julie has done a great job at keeping them busy – or vice versa, but they seem to be coping just fine… this too will pass.

More updates soon. We’re hoping they will “release” her by this weekend, if the heart thing can be resolved.

Please continue to keep her in your prayers,

Thank You all,

Juergen
